Alright, guys, we're almost caught up on all KL Polish posts... kind of. Still have a few to go, but today we're going over the summer collection which was the first to have a theme of some sort. Kathleen took inspiration from Miami, the city she lives in. Right of the bat, I have to say that this is probably my least favorite launch out of all of them (first launch to Ethereal Garden), but if you're into neon shades and bright colors, this collection is perfect for you, and for the season is was designed for.
South Peach lives up to the name, but peach just isn’t the shade for me. I found that this shade was pretty streaky on me and required three coats for full opacity. This definitely is a beautiful shade, but I probably won’t be reaching for it again.
This electric blue is perfect for summer. I think Porter Miami is my second favorite shade in this collection behind Magic City. It's a great bold color without being too neon like other shades in this collection.
If you’re looking for a hot pink nail polish, MIA is perfect — and comes with a unique twist. There are blue micro glitters in here that are beautiful when the sun reflects on the nails. This is a jelly formula and I found that it dried a lot quicker than other polishes. It also required three layers for full opacity, but you’re still able to sort of see the bruise on my ring finger through the polish.
This was the first color I tried on my natural nails. It was the true test of how long the polish lasts. I didn't apply a base or top coat because I didn’t have one with me at the time, but it seemed to last for a decent amount of time. I painted my nails on a Saturday and started to see some wear around Tuesday. Wednesday was when I really noticed it beginning to chip, but I tend to bite my nails plus the constant typing I was doing throughout the day wears away the polish as well. I think if I would have applied both a base and top coat, it would've lasted longer. I wasn't really upset, though, because I liked this color much more in the bottle than on my nails. One thing that did piss me off about this color, and maybe it was because I didn't use base coat, was that it stained my nails teal. I had to use three coats of red polish to cover it up. If you've tried this shade with base coat, let me know if it stained your nails!
A little more of an editorial shot, but you can tell that this is an orange-red polish. I was nervous because I typically avoid colors like this, but I think Magic City will be my new go-to. I experienced the same chipping problems at a much faster rate than Ocean Drive, but again, I think that's because I didn't use a base or top coat. I'll be sure to try again with both and see how long the color truly lasts.
This chartreuse shade is definitely not my cup of tea, but 305 would probably look amazing on deeper skin tones! I found that I had to do three coats with this shade to reach full opacity, but I do pretty thin coats so the polish isn’t too thick. If you’re doing thicker coats, you can probably get away with two layers.
If you stick around, I'll be posting fall swatches in half an hour!
