A little over a month ago, Amazon announced on their fashion account that they were launching a new line called The Drop. The new line was going to feature different collections designed by influencers, and those collections were only going to be available for 30 hours. After the end of that time, production would begin on the pieces. By doing this, Amazon is cutting down on wasted materials and only creating what there is a demand for, a more sustainable practice than other fashion brands. And — the best part — everything is under $100.
Their first drop was done in collaboration with San Diego blogger Paola Alberdi from Blank Itinerary. She launched 13 pieces that are perfect for summer with their bright colors and light fabrics. I picked up three items from the line but never got them... so let's dive in.
I was having an issue with my bank that caused my order to be canceled so I have no idea what my items look like. My order was canceled before the issue could be resolved so my items were not sent out. I tried to contact general Amazon customer service via the chat feature and when they couldn't help, I tried to reach out on Twitter where they couldn't help either. I tried contacting The Drop directly on Instagram but all they said was "Oh no! So sorry to hear. We are working on a fix for enabling people to shop returned items. Stay tuned" I also tried emailing The Drop's general feedback email but have not received a response. Since this is a made-on-demand line and I ordered my pieces immediately and they weren't shipped out, in theory, my pieces are just sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting to be shipped out. But they refuse to respond to me and reopen my order to send out my pieces. Instead, they're going to sell them as "returned" items when I still want them and have made that abundantly clear. I'm disappointed that I won't get these items after waiting a month for them to ship out to me. I've set up alerts in case the items I originally ordered come back in stock in my sizes but I'm not holding my breath. I ordered from Sierra Furtado's line before this all happened but I will not be ordering from The Drop again unless they find a way to fix their poor customer service.
Now I understand that it's Amazon — they aren't exactly known as a beacon of customer service — but I'd expect them to be a little more helpful for a customer that has ordered and waited a month for their items to be shipped out. Or I'd expect that they'd at least respond. It seems like they only respond to positive feedback from customers on their social media instead of helping fix the problems of those who had a negative experience. As you can see, I tried to request that they forward me to the correct person. I know the social media team has nothing to do with the orders, but I couldn't even get them to direct me to a customer service rep to help me with the order. Not exactly a good way to start off a new line if you ask me.
I didn't want to go off in their comment section because those kinds of customers really annoy me, but it seems to be one of my last avenues of communication. I did post a review to each of the items I ordered so maybe that could garner a response from a customer service rep. TBD on whether or not that will work.
As my friend MacKenzie and I talked about, it seems like some customers who are reviewing the products online are having issues with the fit and quality so maybe it's good that I didn't get my items. I'll add in photos below so you can see what I originally ordered.

UPDATE AT 5:38 ON FRIDAY: Someone directly from The Drop's customer service line called me, but I didn't answer because who answers calls from numbers they don't know these days? Well she left a voicemail and a number to call back, so I jumped on that and called so I could get my shit. But alas, it was the general Amazon customer service line so they told me the same thing everyone else told me: we can't send you your items. Cool. Melissa from customer service said she would try to call again but never has. So I have officially given up hope on ever getting these pieces.
