Finally. My first OOTD from England. My assignment today for my Styling for Fashion Editorial class was to "come looking fabulous," so that's exactly what I did. Let's finally dive in for my first English fashion post.
For the record, this campus is way better than North Central's.
In Styling for Fashion Editorial, we're fortunate enough to be able to shoot in a studio, so that's where we began today. I love shooting in studios because it's much easier to manipulate the light to your liking instead of searching for the perfect lighting outside. You also don't have to deal with wind... and it was very windy out today as you'll see in some of the photos.
To begin my fabulous look, I chose to wear a tie blouse from Who What Wear's original launch for Target. I love that you can tie the top in a bow, fold it over like I did here or just leave it open and loose. It makes the top way more versatile.
Instead of a jacket, I wore a faux fur vest from Topshop to keep me warm in the English breeze (wind tunnel). I actually bought this vest a couple summers ago and can finally wear it in public without being judged by (American) classmates who only wear sweatpants.
In my typical monochromatic fashion, I chose black cigarette pants from Topshop. I used to hate cropped pants, but my wardrobe has quickly become filled with only cropped bottoms because it's easier than finding pants that are actually long enough for my legs.
A moment of silence for the fact that I'm not wearing my adidas today. But don't worry, adidas are really popular here, so they will be making many appearances over the next three months. I am really excited to be wearing my new Steve Madden mules, though. This is such a popular shoe style right now and can function from spring to fall, especially for me because my wardrobe remains neutral (i.e. only black) all year long.
As you can see, it was very windy, but that didn't stop us from having an amazing time shooting today! I can't wait for next week's assignment which is styling one item three ways. I'll be sure to post that shoot next Thursday, so stay tuned! Also be on the lookout for another update on my English adventure so far on Tuesday!
Now that I'm done with class for the week, I think I'm going to go sleep until Tuesday and dream up more OOTDs.
