We are a full week into January now and I'm finally getting my December favorites up. Let me just say that it was a crazy first week back at North Central, but hopefully as my schedule settles, I can find time to make this blog as great as it can be this year! Without further ado, here are the things I loved in December!
Crest Classic Vivid Whitestrips
Anyone who knows me well knows that I absolutely hate the taste of mint. I seriously gag when I'm at the dentist's office and they use mint toothpaste to clean my teeth, so since I have this aversion to mint, it's difficult to find a whitening toothpaste that is in a flavor other than mint. (Just an FYI, I order my toothpaste special off of Amazon because they have citrus Crest). Anyways, I finally gave whitening strips a try and they really did make my teeth look whiter and brighter! I used up all the strips in the pack, so I couldn't see huge results, but I'm sure if I continued to use them, I would see even more whitening.
Who What Wear Fringe Poncho
This furry friend was my favorite item to style in December. I love that it's an open poncho instead of one that fully covers the top half of your body. It's way chicer than the ponchos I wore as a child. I can't wait to rock it here in Naperville.
It by Alexa Chung
Alexa Chung's book was my favorite read of December. She talks a lot about her style influences in this book; I always find it so interesting to see where people—especially street style stars like Chung—got their sense of style from. "It" was also a quick read because she adds in a lot of photos as well to make up a sort of mood board for her life.
Daddy Lessons ft. the Dixie Chicks by Beyoncé
Another fun fact about me, I love Beyoncé. "Lemonade" is most definitely her best album yet. I'm not typically a fan of country music, but when I came across this version of "Daddy Lessons," one of my favorite songs on the album, on Spotify I was hooked. I love the mixture of all their voices and the little section of "Long Time Gone" stuck in near the end of the song.
Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time by Panic! At The Disco
Another Spotify discovery, this is one of those songs that you can just dance to. I have this on my workout playlist because I think the beat is really fun. I know they're talking about partying, doing drugs, and getting wasted, but I still really love the rhythm of this song and smile when it comes on.
I had to find a new crime show to fill my time since "Criminal Minds" wasn't available in England. I had started and stopped "Dexter" a few times, but I really committed in December. I made it through two (maybe three?) seasons in a matter of days. If you don't know what it's about, Dexter is a serial killer who works for the police as a blood splatter analyst. I won't give anything else away, just go watch!
Finally, a favorite movie of the month was "Burlesque." I hadn't seen it prior to last month, but had heard some of the soundtrack. It was available on British Netflix, so I watched it... twice. I wasn't sure if I would like Christina Aguliera in this role, but her powerful voice really adds to her character.
I hope you enjoyed my (very late) December favorites! Let me know what you were loving in the month of December or in 2016 in the comment section!
Have a great week!
