As we all already know, I love to shop. But shopping requires money, something that's hard to come by when you are a stay-at-home mom. This has forced me to learn some tricks on how to shop the designers I love on a tight budget. And today I'm going to share those tricks with you.
My first go-to lately has been Poshmark. This app is basically like an online thrift store with people selling a lot of gently used clothing, shoes and accessories. While you can often find good deals on designer items, some people tend to keep the prices high since they make money off of their sales. I use this app to both buy and sell so it does double duty. All of my recent Song of Style pieces have been from Poshmark and the two dresses even came with tags still on. I did the math and got around a 60 percent discount off of the original price of the items from Revolve. Definitely a big steal for the coveted new designer.
For items that haven't popped up on Poshmark yet, there's a way to shop (some of) them on their original sites and not pay it all up front. Afterpay is my other way to navigate shopping with a small budget since you break up your total into four payments. Afterpay isn't available for all retailers, but I've been able to use it on sites like Revolve, Beis, MAC and Boohoo. This doesn't save you any money necessarily — they occasionally have coupon codes for using Afterpay — but it does break up the payments to occur every two weeks so you can at least space them out to when you're receiving paychecks.
My next two are hit or miss. T.J.Maxx and Nordstrom Rack are my last two places to try and find designer pieces for less. Most of the pieces aren't current season and some aren't that heavily discounted so it can be a toss up if you can find anything worth it. Both stores are very similar in that they carry a lot of the same brands and have everything from women's to kids to beauty to shoes. It can definitely be a one-stop shop for discount shopping. With Nordstrom Rack in particular, I'm able to find pieces I want more often because I watch them on Nordstrom as they get marked down and then sent to the Rack. If you see a price ending in .97, it's going to head to the Rack soon so just start scanning the site each week to see when your piece will pop up again.
